TATTOO AFTERCARE

RECOMMEDNED SECOND SKIN AFTERCARE

✿ I usually use Ultraderm for my clients, this can be kept on for 3-4 days

✿ Your bandage is waterproof (although submerging is still not recommended) allowing you to shower and complete your daily activities with minimal discomfort. This bandage acts as a 'artificial scab' and protects your new tattoo from infection and other irritants

✿ When it is time to remove the bandage (I recommend removing it in the shower for the most painless experience), wash your hands thouroughly and carefully peel the bandage from your skin. I recommend pulling the second skin upwards to avoid the "ripping off a band-aid" sensation. Once the bandage has been removed clean the area with warm water and a gentle antibacterial soap to remove any adhesive residue, ink and blood. Pat down the area with a clean paper towel to avoid contamination and allow the rest to air dry. Apply a thin layer of a gentle, un-scented lotion 3-4 times a day as needed until your tattoo is healed.

✿ Please let me know if you are allergic to Ultraderm or other second skin type products

RECOMMEDNED BANDAGE AFTERCARE

✿ If you have been given a more traditional wound bandage, do your best to keep this wrap on for 24 hours to protect your new tattoo. For bandages wrapped fully around a limb with a self-adhesive wrap ensure that this wrap does not get too tight around your limb, these types of bandages can tighten over time with movement, and if left on too tight for extended periods can cause swelling in the areas below the wrap. If you notice this please unwrap the outer layer and re-wrap so it is looser.

✿ AVOID getting these bandages wet entirely. In the case that your bandage gets wet remove it immediately.

✿ When it is time to remove the bandage, wash your hands thoroughly before removing the bandage. Once the bandage has been removed clean the area with warm water and a gentle antibacterial soap to remove any ink and blood. Pat down the area with a clean paper towel to avoid contamination and allow the rest to air dry. Apply a thin layer of a gentle, un-scented lotion 3-4 times a day as needed until your tattoo is healed.

✿ With this type of bandage your tattoo is very much an open wound, please treat it as such

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

✿ Avoid any soaps or lotions with fragrances/harsh chemicals as they can irritate your skin

✿ Do not scratch, pick or itch your tattoo as it is healing (scabbing/flaking/peeling are a normal part of the healing process, picking at these pieces can affect how your tattoo heals)

✿ Do not submerge your tattoo (baths, swimming, hot tubs, etc...)

✿ Keep your tattoo away from direct sunlight or tanning beds

✿ Do NOT touch the area with dirty hands

✿ SECOND SKIN REACTIONS: If you notice redness/irritation around the edges of the bandage and not on the tattoo itself, remove the bandage immediately and follow recommended aftercare instructions. Please seek medical attention if needed.
